Promoting Sea Angling in the Western Isles
The Stornoway Sea Angling Club was originally founded in 1963 by a group of enthusiastic anglers.
From its humble beginnings the club has grown to be one of the largest and best known clubs in the U.K. The club has also built its own two-storey clubhouse and owns its own 34ft charter boat as well as a smaller 18ft boat, both which are available for private hire, as well as being used for the clubs annual competitions.
In the past the club has held the European Sea Angling Championships and the Scottish Open, as well as in 2013 holding the Home Nation's Boat Internationals. In 2014 the club also held its 50th Western Isles Open Sea Angling Championships.
The club also has a very healthy social scene within our clubhouse and regularly features music performed by local bands/artists. From the clubs conception it has always held social events, and with the clubhouse being extended in 1999, the clubhouse is now regarded as a key local venue for music as well as other local events.
The club is run by a committee which currently consists of 16 members who all bring a different skill set to running the club. These include;
